For rehearsal breaks, bring a mug! MembershipSouthdowns Concert Band aims to be a highly competent band, attracting the more proficient instrumentalists in the area to perform to a very high standard. We therefore welcome interest from wind players typically above Grade 6 or with equivalent experience and capability, and expect a strong commitment. Please contact us if you would like to join. Vacancies are listed below. Where are we based? We rehearse at Arundel Church of England Primary School at the end of Jarvis Road in Arundel. As our base is in the heart of West Sussex, this gives us the scope to perform all over the area and we regularly perform in Chichester, Arundel, Worthing, Brighton and Eastbourne. To get to us from Chichester, take the A27 eastbound to Arundel then simply take the first turning on the right after the Arundel Hotel. To get to us from Worthing, take the A27 westbound to Arundel and follow the signs to Chichester. The main road will take you up a fairly steep hill and Jarvis road is the first turning on the left, at the top of the hill. What do we play? Our repertoire of music is very wide indeed and includes everything from classical arrangements, big band, new original works, film and popular show music. We also like to include works that will both challenge and stretch our members which is why so many experienced musicians like to play with us. Our concerts naturally include a variety of this music which is not only great fun to play but also exciting to listen to. Does it cost anything? As with all bands there is a small subscription, payable termly. Among other things, this charge covers rent of the rehearsal venue and insurance costs. The cost is currently £15 per term, per person. Vacancies
